It is typically rolled into a cone while still warm and flexible and filled with whipped cream or fruit.
Spoon 1 tablespoon batter onto center of hot iron. Remove from the iron and quickly roll up around a stick or around a cone before they harden. Lightly brush inside top and bottom with shortening oil or melted butter.
